Dana participates in several causes that are important to her. She truly appreciates when her fans can support them as well.
Founded in 1987 by Dana's friend, the late Sharon Monsky, the Scleroderma Research Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure to Scleroderma, and improving the life quality of Scleroderma patients. Dana has served on the Board of Directors since the mid 1990's. Scleroderma is a disfiguring, debilitating, and often deadly disease that currently affects approximately 300,000 Americans, and much more people worldwide.

Dana has been supporting SU2C for several years. SU2C focuses on leveraging the entertainment industry to help push advancement of cancer treatment through cooperation instead of competition. In 2008, Dana participated in a fund raising TV special simulcast on the 3 major networks, where she was featured receiving a complete breast exam.

The Creative Coalition is an advocacy organization of the entertainment industry, created to educate and mobilize leaders in the arts on issues of public importance, specifically in the areas of First Amendment rights, arts advocacy, and public education. Dana became co-president, presiding alongside Tim Daly, in 2009.

The Ojai Playwright's Conference gathers playwrights, actors, directors, dramaturges, and technicians together in a beautiful setting where works can be developed, then presented during the twelve day conference to an audience who cares about the theatre.

The New York Stage & Film is dedicated to both emerging and established artists in the development of new works for theater and film, free from critical and commercial pressures. Their cornerstone is the Powerhouse Season, an eight-week residency on the Vassar College campus in Poughkeepsie, NY where, each summer, close to two-hundred professional playwrights, directors, actors and designers live and work together to create and present new plays.
