About Dana

Q: Is Dana married?

A: Dana has never been married, and has no children. Dana once mentioned in a forum message:
"I think it's pretty evident that my parent's divorce had a profound effect on me. Between that and growing up in the 70's, marriage has never been that important to me. But love is."

Q: Is Dana related to Kim Delaney?

A: From one of Dana's forum messages: "Kim Delaney and I are not related, as we spell our names differently. But I know her and I like her. She is quite beautiful and a good actor."

Q: What is the story about Dana's family's flush-valve business that keeps being mentioned?

A: Dana's family has a business, Coyne & Delany, started in 1879, which originally manufactured plumbing hardware and bathtubs. They later switched to developing and manufacturing flush valves for toilets and urinals, the factory being based in Virginia, U.S.A. Their hardware is a plumbing industry standard, with the valves frequently seen in many restrooms, labelled Delany Flush Valves.

Dana has said that she worked at the factory for a summer, but is not otherwise currently involved in the business. Talk show hosts frequently enjoy asking about this facet of her life.

About Dana's Work

Q: Is China Beach available on DVD or VHS?

A: The 2-part Pilot was available on VHS, but is currently only found as closeout stock or used. Check Amazon or eBay.

China Beach isn't available otherwise on VHS or DVD. Dana recently stated in a TV-Now interview:
"Warner Brothers won't release China Beach on DVD to the public. I think part of it has to do with the musical licensing of it."

However, interest in it can be expressed by going to the Amazon.com or TV Shows on DVD web sites. Other China Beach fans have already done this, and maybe it will eventually have an effect.

Note: Since 2005, China Beach has been airing on the American Life cable channel in the U.S.

Warning: Again, China Beach is not commercially available in a legitimate form on DVD. Because of the ease of making DVDs nowadays, bootleg copies of China Beach are becoming available on the internet. Please be cautious if purchasing them.

Q: What happened to that TV show Pasadena?

A: Pasadena was a TV series originally on the Fox Network in the U.S., created by Mike White (School of Rock). Aired in fall 2001, it was an eccentric take on the prime time soap format. Four episodes were shown, then the series was cancelled. However, a total of thirteen episodes were completed, with the last episode wrapping up the storylines, turning Pasadena into a miniseries of a sort.

In 2003 and 2004, those thirteen episodes were aired in various countries such as Colombia, New Zealand, and China, with Pasadena gaining a cult following around the world. It was completely shown for the first time in the U.S. starting in October 2005 by the cable channel SOAPnet.
